Adapting Massage for Palliative Care Workshop

Adapting Massage for Palliative Care :  This day course will help increase your confidence when working with clients with cancer by looking at contra-indications and offering guidelines on how to adapt your treatment session to provide a gentle, safe and appropriate massage at all stages of illness.  There is a practical element to the day so wear loose comfortable clothing and please bring a base oil or cream and two small towels.  The tutor Mary, a practicing complementary therapist in a hospice, will use her own experiences of working with people with cancer to encourage informal discussions and learning.  Certificate of Attendance awarded.  Date: 9th June 2006.  Cost 65.00 pounds

Deeep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage:  (Using Pressure Safely and Effectively for you and your client) .  You will learn how and when to use deep pressure safely and successfully to achieve greater results for your clients, and at the same time protect yourself from RSI injuries.  Nicki Lee will help you to assess your own working posture, and increase your working life and reduce injuries by using your body effectively and safely.  

By the end of the day you will have better awareness of how you work and be comfortable exploring different working postures and using your arms, elbows, table height and body weight to reduce the strain on your wrist and finger joints.  You will learn how to apply deep pressure correctly for your clients while caring for your own body.  You will have confidence to work deeply on clients and know when it is safe to do so.  This class is suitable for anyone with a massage qualification.    A Certificate of attendance is awarded for this workshop.  Dates:  7th May 2006 & 11th June 2006.  Cost £65.00



Effective Stretching Workshop

Effective Stretching: A one-day workshop designed as an advanced workshop open to qualified Massage Therapists. There are incredible benefits tto effective stretching. When a massage therapist is armed with the knowledge of a variety of stretching techniques and an understanding of the difference between effective and ineffective stretching, you will be able to incorporate stretching methods into your treatment as well as devise safe and appropriate stretching programmes for your clients to do between massage treatments. 

Come and learn this very useful too with  us in this action packed and fun filled day where by the end of the day you will be able to: Understand the difference between active and passive stretching, demonstrate active stretches for all major muscle groups of the body, carry out passive stretches on all major muslce groups of the body, incorporate a variety of stretching methods into your treatments and devise safe and appropriate stretching programmes for your clients.
Dont settle for being an ‘average’ massage therapist.  By adding skills such as this to you massage, your clients will receive a much more beneficial massage and your reputation will grow from this and speak for itself!

Indian Head Massage with Mary Atkinson Workshop

Indian Head Massage (with Mary Atkinson): Spend a day with Mary Atkinson, author of The Art of Indian Head Massage, and discover more about the far-reaching benefits of this ancient therapy.  The day is open to everyone wishing to either refresh your knowledge, learn different techniques or gain an introductory insight into the history and application of Indian Head Massage, with and without oil.

Looking After Yourself:  As therapists, we give plenty of good advice about health and well-being to our clients, but do we take it ourselves? Do you ever feel tired and washed out? Neuromuscular Technique Workshop

Neuromuscular Technique:  You will learn how to use Neuromuscular Technique as a tool for assessment and treatment for muscular tension and injury.  We look expecially at how NMT is used to reduce 'knots' or tender points, and you will learn how to guide your client to work with you in this extremely effective technique.

Your tutor Nicki Lee will thoroughly explore the theory with you, but most of the time will be spent learning and practicing NMT with fellow students.  This class is suitable for anyone with a massage qualification.  Certificate of attendance awarded.   Date:  6th May 2006.           Cost £65.00
